    Syed Ali Hassan and Areeba,

There is absolutely NO VERSE in THE ENTIRE QURAN which commands a Muslimah to cover her head or her. There is absolutely NO VERSE in THE ENTIRE QURAN that says ANYTHING about women and head/hair covering.

I think it is quite sad that Dr. Asarul Islam is on a mission to clean up and reclaim Pakistan and instead of lending support you wish to argue with him about totally irrelevant issues that aren’t even in The Quran to begin with.

  2. Syed Ali Hassan says:

@Damon -then what is this? “And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful” (Al Quran An-Nur:31)

“O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their outergarments (jilbabs) close around themselves; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.” (Al Quran Al-Ahzab:59)

  3. Respected Brothers & Sisters,
Please note that the Qur’an nowhere advocates head-cover, ‘purdah’ or segregation of women and men. In fact, they must work together as colleagues to promote virtue and eliminate vice from the society.
9:71 Believing men and believing women are colleagues of one another. They enjoin virtue and forbid vice. Together, they help establish the Divinely System of Life, and set up the Economic Order of Zakaat. This is how they obey God and His Messenger. These are the ones on whom God showers His grace of success. Certainly, God is Exalted in Power, Wise.
[The believing men and women, working together, do not deliver empty lectures. They enjoin virtue and forbid vice by personal example, knowing that the Qur’an is the Eternal Criterion of right and wrong. 2:185. ‘Good’ and ‘Evil’, ‘Right’ and ‘Wrong’ are not vague entities. The Qur’an clearly defines them in 2:177 and many other verses. In short, good is all that helps people and evil is all that hurts them]

Even a Bukhari Hadith should be sufficient to silence the orthodox Mullahs and Mullanis.

WHAT BODY PARTS CAN WOMEN SHOW IN PUBLIC?
Face, hands and forearms, heads, feet and ankles.
5:6 O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! When you congregate for Salat, wash your faces and your forearms, hands to the elbows. Lightly rub your heads and your feet to the ankles.”

Ibn Umar said that during the times of Rasulullah (S) men and women used to do Wudhu together.” (Bukhari by Madina Publishing Company, Karachi, 1982, Printer Hamid & Co, vol 1, pg 169 Kitabil Wudhu. The translator is “Maulana” Abdul Hakim Khan Shahjahan Puri)

    Thanks!

    @Syed Ali Hassan

    Syed Ali Hassan,

You ask…. “what is this?”…. I can tell you what IT IS NOT!!! It is NOT a command for women to cover their HEADS or their HAIR.

First of all, you are presenting an English translation instead of the Arabic of The Quran. But even the English translation demonstrates that their is no command or instruction what so ever for a woman to cover her head or hair.

Please study that ayat more carefully and make sure you take away your pre conceived notions before you do. By pre conceived notions, I mean the misunderstanding of this ayat based on Mullah hand me downs.

    Regards,
    Damon.
ASARULISLAM’S COMMENT: Well said Damon: The Quran says ‘tell them to MINIMIZE their Jilbabas so that they can be identified.’ Yadneena …
