I think due to some kind of conspiracy in the past, the Muslim Ummah was brainwashed to treat rituals as an end rather than means to an end. Little do we wonder if rituals were the solutions to our problems why:

[A litmus test for a society to see that their dedication to religion is working or not is to see how people behave.]

Right now in Muslim countries, the situation of human rights, justice for the poor, good governance, is really pathetic and does not suit people who live and die by Qur’an and Hadith/Sunnah. Little they wonder inspite of all their rituals, why their countries suffer from:

    – Bad governance
    – Corruption, nepotism, discrimination based on ethnicity, bribery, favourtism
    – Lack of afforcable education
    – Lack of affordable health care
    – Lack of affordable housing
    – Lack of employment opportunities
    – Lack of clean streets and drinking water
    – Women bashing justified by questionable interpretation of religion
    – Lack of respect for those visiting government institutions to get things done
    – Child molestation
    – Child marriages
    – Feudal lords
    – Tribalism
    – Honour killings
    – It is not what you know, who you know syndrome
    – Superstition and asking favours from long dead saints
    – Lack of tolerance and aversion to healthy debates
    – Lack of discipline and aversion to following regulations
    – No rule of Law
    – Obscurantism and sectarianism runs supreme. Extremisim is taken as true faith.
    – Lack of affordable justice
    – Showing off and tendency to “throw one’s weight around”
    – Lack of common courtesy

As patients belonging to a sick Ummah, we need to sit up and ask the doctors of religion what are they feeding us in the name of a cure. It is not working for hundreds of years!! We need to examine the medicine to make sure it is the right one. That is, as a thinking people, our responsibility.

    @Mubashir
You are absolutely right, Brother Mubashir. I just found something, which supports your views, in my old files. I believe I wrote it for ourbeacon forum many years ago. Here it is.

    Dear Mullah Jamal, AA
For your information QAIU is an effort to convey the message of the Book of Allah in English as clearly and accurately as possible. Brother Dr. Shabbir studied the Quran using Quraish Language in which the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. He did not use any Tafseers or books of Ahadith to distort the original message of the Quran. That is why you find QAIU different from other translations and Tafseers of the Quran. I found QAIU very accurate, appealing, and inspiring. So far I have not found any conflict or contradiction between QAIU and Allah Almighty’s other Book, The Book of Nature. We need to applaud Dr. Shabbir for doing such a superb job.
By the way you can study “The Book of Nature” any time and place. It is available everywhere and costs nothing. (Of course you need some knowledge of mathematics and sciences to understand it.) You can even study it while you are asleep. As a matter of fact I gain knowledge while I am asleep. And it includes a glimpse of the next world.
As a result of reading the Quran with understanding I am in peace with my “Self”, my Creator, and His wonderful creation.
Last, I will highly appreciate if you and your folks stop wasting our time on irrelevant and trivial issues. Let us ponder the real issues.
Why is there no unity among Muslims?
Why they failed to advance in the fields of science or discover/invent anything for over a thousand years?
Why they still suffer from so many social ills such as illiteracy, poverty, corruption, ignorance, and intolerance?
Why Muslims in so-called Islamic countries suffer under dictatorships?
Why Islamic countries failed to stop Iran-Iraq war that cost hundreds and thousands of lives on both sides?
Israel is a tiny country with a population of just a few millions. Why over one billion “Muslims” cannot stop it from daily killings of Palestinians, destroying their homes, and stealing their lands?
Now take a look at Iraq. Uncle Sam is using it as a testing ground for its new mighty weapons. Whole humanity is witnessing unspeakable death and destruction. Where are one billion plus Muslims? Why no Islamic country has come to aid Iraq?
The so-called one billion Muslims did not help Palestinians against Israel, the Muslims of Bosnia against Serbs, Chechens against Russia, and Kashmiri Muslims against nationalist Hindus. No wonder Iraq is left alone to face the wrath of almighty Bush.
There is only one answer to all of the above questions. There is not a single country in the world that meets the criteria to be called Islamic and we are Muslims by name only. We abandoned Allah Almighty’s Guidance, the Quran. Consequently, Allah Almighty abandoned us. Following the so-called Imams and their books is of no help. First, they were themselves mortal creatures. They played no part in creation. Second, their knowledge was limited to their space and time. Third, they had no idea how fast world was changing and evolving. Fourth, their writings contradict the teachings of the Quran as well Allah’s Mighty Book of Nature. No wonder blind following of these Imams and their books leads us nowhere but to the Dark Labyrinth where we have been wandering for the past one thousand years. Yes, there is a way to get out of this Dark Labyrinth that Imams built around us with their fabricated Ahadith, fictitious history, and faulty interpretation of the teachings of the Quran. All we need to do is hold the Book of Allah, which is Light, and it will guide us to the Straight Path. Then, we will find unity, peace, prosperity, victory, and glory in no time.

    Dear Friends,
Here is an excerpt from a lengthy article I am still working on.

In brief, the religion Muslims follow today is not the same Prophet Muhammad and his companions practiced. In fact, a few centuries after Prophet Muhammad died, Muslims reintroduced old pagan beliefs, customs, traditions, and rituals. A great majority of Muslims follows these irrational beliefs, traditions, and rituals found in the books of Hadith, but only a tiny minority upholds the commandments given in the Quran. As a result we witness violation of human rights, suppression of women and minorities, restrictions on free thought and inquiry, and draconian punishments inflicted on even minors for such “violations” that are not considered a crime in the West. After Mullahs came to power in Iran in 1979, the state introduced Sharia Laws that inflict sever punishments, such as stoning to death for adultery and cutting off hands of thieves. Pakistan too introduced Sharia Laws under the influence of Mullahs. In addition to stoning to death and cutting off hands, this law includes death penalty for blasphemy. Anyone accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad or his companions, can be executed under this law. You may have heard about Asia, a 45 years old Pakistani mother of 5 children, condemned to death for insulting Prophet Muhammad. No wonder some call Islam the most violent and intolerant religion in the world. Are they right?
ASARULISLAM’S COMMENT: Yes they are right. Islam, the ideology of Statehood based on the law of God, was hijacked by priests of Zoroastrian-Christian-Jews and transformed into a cult. This new cult of Sunnah Worshippers crucified Quran’s message of equality and justice Quran. It was sponsored by Kings and capitalists who endorsed pagan beliefs and rituals of medieval Judeo-Christianity. The Saudi Kings today promote the same cult in the garb of Wahabiism. Evil indeed are those who endorse this cult by becoming members of WAHABBI CENTERS, the so called Islamic Centers.

I think this is the ultimate fact of the matter and the quintessential of our problem. ACCORDINGLY, the main target of our Movement must be “Kings and Capitalists”. Once we empower the Quranists over these creeds, Mullah will be a minor problem to deal with.

Goes without saying that in the present age, both creeds have become one; Kings are the capitalists; and Capitalists are Kings, Presidents and Prime Ministers. The inhuman capitalist is in league with the democracies. A highly organized, very cautious and strategic, highly diplomatic, open as well as underground ” political movement” is the only remedy, in my opinion.

  5. @Mubashir
    My Dear Mu’min Brother Mubashir,
You have beautifully summed up the ills of the so-called Muslim societies and the etiology behind them.
***”…. to treat rituals as an end rather than means to an end. Little do we wonder if rituals were the solutions to our problems why:
[A litmus test for a society to see that their dedication to religion is working or not is to see how people behave.]”***
The Qur’an zeroes in on the disaster.
20:124 Whoever turns away from My Message, his will be a narrow life and economy. And We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection. [17:72, 20:102. ‘Zikri’ = My Remembrance = The Qur’an = The Law = The Message. Such individuals and nations will live in economic and moral poverty]
    Conversely,
21:10 O Mankind! Now We have revealed to you a Book that is all about you and it will give you eminence. Will you not, then, use reason? [21:24, 23:70, 43:43-44]
    Wassalam!

    The Law of Absolute Right

    Dear Friends,
I came upon very interesting website, which offers essays and books written by Richard W. Wetherill. Here is his definition of the Law of Absolute Right.
“Right actions get right results, wrong actions get wrong results.”
(Are we getting any right results from the rituals (Namaz, Roza, and Hajj) that we inherited from our so-called Imams?)
According to Wetherill this law requires that we must think, say, and do what is rational and honest to the best of our abilities. Also, we must withdraw support from wrong thoughts, words, and actions. In brief, our universe functions on certain laws. If we learn about those laws and follow them, we can resolve all conflicts and live a blissful life on earth.
Here are some excerpts from various essays written by Richard W. Wetherill.
“We read of scientific research indicating that the earth’s crust is billions of years old and that fossils of mankind are being unearthed from thirty thousand years ago. Consider that whoever or whatever created the earth and its people communicates with them by means of natural laws.”
“Do people refuse to obey natural laws? Only mistakenly. The population of the world is surrounded with untold numbers of natural laws that serve to nurture, preserve, and safely guide human activities. But when ignored or opposed, however mistakenly, those same laws penalize all those who, in effect, dare to challenge nature’s authority.”
“Reality forces us to recognize that whoever or whatever is the creator provided planet Earth for people to inhabit safely. That creator also provided natural laws for people’s safety—gravitation, for example. What follows describes a natural law that defines mankind’s code of conduct: a natural law that most people have unknowingly been ignoring.”
“Natural laws exist in reality. The principle stated above tells people that conformity to the law of absolute right is mandatory and that nonconformity accounts for society’s chaotic, deadly affairs.”
(Please take a look at the chaotic life in Pakistan and many other so-called Islamic countries. Are not the people of these countries violating the Natural Law of Absolute Right?)
“Consider that acting in accord with natural laws assures conformity to the plan of whoever or whatever created those laws. When people reason from the behavioral law, they serve a higher purpose in life, supporting creation’s plan for a peacefully vibrant, productive society. We invite you to join those who eagerly already serve that higher purpose.”
You can read Richard Wetherill’s books and essays at the following website.

ASARULISLAM’S COMMENT: Anybody that appreciates the above will also appreciate the deep understanding of Quran’s Message which brother Zubair has acquired.
