    Salam Dear Brother

Listening to your interpretation, I get the impression that you are equate the rejectors and the idol worshipers/Mushriks/Kuffars mentioned in those verses with the muftees/maulanas/maulvis of today!! You seem to suggest that the Quran is discussing the people of our times!

Please correct me if I am wrong. These maulvis of today do not accuse the Messenger of cooking things up, demand a miracle from him, worship Laat Manaat, do not accuse the Messenger of being a poet, a soothsayer, a magician. In short they never question the Risalat of the Rasool! Those Mushrik/kuffars/idol worshippers did and the Qur’an refers to their objections while replying to them.

It also seems that you seem to be against “Puja Paat” meaning Salat prayers for which there are numerous verses found in the Qur’an that deal with call to prayer, shortening of prayer when faced with inconvenience (and resuming afterwards), requirement to perform these at certain times of the day, Salat Fajr, Salat Wusta, Salat Isha, Washing before prayers, etc.

Can you kindly explain why do you apply these verses to the religious people of today and your reasons for understanding a different meaning of Salat.

    Thanks in advance.
ASARULISLAM’S RESPONSE: You are getting some wrong impression. Those who oppose establishing the law of Allah, by Quran’s definition are Kafiroon. No priest opposes it. Our Mullahs, Quran teachers and Qarees have my highest respect. But those priests who run a parallel government are condemned in the Quran as Mushrikoon. Also, I hope you understand that Worship and Al-Salat are not the same. A communal ceremonial assembly to listen to communal leader and engaging in team work to serve the Sovereign of the Islamic State is Al-Salat. SERVICE as a servant of Allah and WORSHIP by chanting mantras are two different things. A personal connection with a personal god through a personal prayer is Worship. This yields nothing good but conveys a false sense of feeling good. The Quran clearly commands Prophet Muhammad to declare to the opponents of the Islamic State, The Kafiroon, SAY, I DO NOT CONSIDER IT WORSHIP WHAT YOU CONSIDER WORSHIP AND YOU DO NOT CONSIDER IT WORSHIP WHAT I CONSIDER WORSHIP. [ Sura al-kafiroon]
A communal Assembly, having a brief communal Assembly, call to Assembly, are all activities done in any functional government SERVICE today. A Surgeon who leads his team, meets with them at 6 AM in the morning, plans and executes his plan thereafter. Then they meet at fixed times at noon, and at three and again at 6 PM. A sergeant meets his police officers at 6 AM, plans, assigns team work, breaks apart teams, gives commands….these are examples of SERVICE.
I hope you understand that I regularly join in Prayers in the Masjid. These are beautiful ceremonial rites. But he who creates any image of Allah in his mind is committing Shirk. Look what we are doing. Exactly what Jews used to do 14 centuries ago.
Can you not see the difference in results? Look where the Islamic State was in 49 Hijra. Do you think our Islam is the same as it was in 49 Hijra, under Caliph Yazid, the year Abu Ayub Ansari died in Constantinople?

49 Hijra is 150 years before Imam Bukhari was born. Look at the geography and size of the Islamic State in 49 Hijra. It included Syria, Egypt, Turkey, with Mission Grenada and Delhi in the works. Who was publishing calenders and “Jantries” with prayer timings— 2 plus 2 Rakats in morning, 4 Rakats plus 4, plus 2 , then 4 plus 4, then 3 plus 2 plus 2, and in this huge State? Remember: Imam Bukhari’s Book is still 200 years away. How was this nation, spread over 4 time zones “doing its prayer”?

  2. Damon says:

Thank You for clarifying some of the misconceptions that Muslims have concerning Salaat, Mushrikoon and Kaafiroon. That is a very beautiful and MOST EXCELLENT rendition and explanation of Surah al-Kafiroon.

I have to agree with Dr. Asarul Islam, Saheb that ANYONE (whoever he or she may be) who OPPOSES the establishment of the Laws of Allah according to The Qur’an are Kafiroon and Mushrikoon not by my or Dr. Asar’s definition but by The Qur’an’s definition. 5:44 informs us that anyone who REJECTS the Laws of Allah are kafiroon. But 5:46 and 5:47 also inform us that these people are also Zalimoon and fasiqoon. And 9:31 informs us that those priests who run a parallel government are condemned in the Quran as Mushrikoon.

So if ANYONE (including muftees, maulanas and maulvis of today) exemplify the patterns of behavior pointed out in these Ayaat are guilty and condemned of being Mushrikoon and Kafiroon and even Fasiqoon (corruptors, liars and trouble makers) and Zalimoon (political, economic and social criminals who rob society of permanent values and due rights).
ASARULISLAM’S COMMENT: Super. Damon, you have understood and grasped well the Revolutionary MESSAGE for all mankind. HOLD FAST TO THE ROCK OF ALLAH.

    Allah Hafiz,
    Damon.

Thanks for your response Dear Brother. It makes sense. Just one point of confusion remains.

If present day Salat has been turned into Puja pat (revolving around a personal relationship with Allah but producing not much tangible results) then why do you, at times, perform them in the Masjid)? Why participate in puja pat (as you put it)?

    Thanks!

Dear Dr. Sb, aap nay Assalah or ‘worship’ ka farq bhot hea zabardast wazee andazmein samjhaya hay, yahea farq hay aik ‘debater’ or PRACTICAL ensaan maen,,ab yahan kon Molvi es wazahat peh etiraaz karsakta hay? Jazakallah.

  5. Mubashir says:

Dear Brother Syed, you say “Also, I hope you understand that Worship and Al-Salat are not the same. A communal ceremonial assembly to listen to communal leader and engaging in team work to serve the Sovereign of the Islamic State is Al-Salat.

Okay, agreed. But then if the present day Salat has been reduced to, as you say, chanting mantras instead of SERVICE, then why do you join prayers in the Masjid regularly?

    2. You said “But those priests who run a parallel government are condemned in the Quran as Mushrikoon….” Can you kindly elaborate where these priests are who are running a parallel government?

    Thanks.
