Anybody amongst you who is sick or in the course of a journey may do this training later. To whom this training is unbearable, he or she can instead, arrange feeding the homeless or needy. Whatever seems best to you, it is up to you to choose. It is better for you if you fast, practice restraint and develop your endurance skills, but you should understand and appreciate the reason for this mandatory training and exercise.
Ramadan has been chosen for this annual exercise to celebrate the month in which the Quran was completely delivered.
The Quran presents immutable dictates of reason in a distinctly clear Message to provide guidance to mankind and to deliver the ideology of Al-Furqan: A secular government based on God’s law, clearly distinct from magical rituals and beliefs. It draws a line between people who engage in magical beliefs and rituals, and those who establish a government based on the law of God to attain God’s blessings in real time. Al-Furqan is to live under a rule of law. Al-Furqan differentiates between reality and magical beliefs taught by priests. It is the difference between reason and a belief in miracles. Al-Furqan is indeed the difference between Islam and Religion.
It is the difference between you and your enemies, The Worshipers of Mecca.
Those of you who have faith in the success of this ideology, when you witness this month, you should fast, practice restrain, and develop your endurance skills. But if anybody is sick, or in the course of a journey, he may do this training later. God wishes to make things easy and does not desire to impose hardships on you. Therefore, do complete the number in other days. This exercise of postponement of pleasures aims to prepare you, to rise and establish a Government that declares supremacy of the law of God, under the guidance that has been given to you, so that all mankind can attain an equal opportunity to realize their potentials and live happy fulfilling lives.’
